On September 8, 2025, the library at Porus Primary School came alive with joy, gratitude, and the spirit of giving. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Friends of Porus Association and Give Back Jamaica Inc., students were treated to a very special event – a school shoe fitting that not only prepared them for the new academic year but also reminded them that their community stands with them every step of the way.

The space was carefully prepared, with colorful tablecloths, neat rows of chairs, and even a sparkling golden walkway, giving the children a feeling of importance and celebration. The boxes lined up neatly on the tables weren’t just ordinary packages – they held brand-new pairs of shoes that many students would proudly wear to school.

This initiative forms part of the GBJ Kickers Program, which is dedicated to ensuring that children in Jamaica can confidently step into their classrooms, not only with the right footwear but with the encouragement to focus on learning and achieving their dreams.

Throughout the day, students walked the golden pathway to be fitted for their new school shoes. For many, it was more than just receiving a pair of shoes; it was a moment of pride, dignity, and motivation to continue striving for excellence.
